#07 Topic: Arctic Sea Ice and the MOSAiC Campaign
Lecturer: Gunnar Spreen
Date: Monday, February 10, 2025 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
The MOSAiC expedition finished more than four years ago and the data analysis now is in full swing. Here we take a look back at the expedition. During the one year long campaign a comprehensive program of sea ice and snow measurements was conducted. Measurements reached from micro-physical properties of the snow and ice to the large scale distributions of ice thickness and topography measured by helicopter. A summary of sea ice measurements and rescent results will be presented together with experiences obtained during leg 1 and 5 of the expedition. A focus will be on observation used for satellite remote sensing evaluation and algorithm development.
